Frequently Asked Questions:
Pasture-Raised Chicken Preorders
Q: What does pasture-raised chicken mean?
A: Our pasture-raised chickens are raised outdoors in chicken tractors, with 24/7 access to fresh grass, fresh air, sunshine, and bugs, the way our Creator intended. Unlike factory-farmed birds, our chickens spend their days on open pasture at Heavenly Acres Farm and are supplemented with organic, non-GMO, soy-free feed. This creates healthier, happier birds and better-tasting chicken.
Q: Are your chickens organic?
A: While we are not USDA certified, we follow organic practices. Our chickens are fed certified organic, non-GMO, soy-free feed, and they are never given antibiotics, steroids, hormones, or vaccines.
Q: How much does your chicken cost?
A: Our chickens are $7.00 per pound, sold whole, with a minimum order of 5 chickens. A $5.00 deposit per chicken is required to secure your preorder, and your deposit is applied toward your final balance.
Q: Do you offer butchering options?
A: Yes! For an additional $2.00 per bird, we can break down your whole chicken into leg quarters, breasts, and wings. All cuts are bone-in, skin-on, and vacuum sealed for freshness.
Q: When will my chickens be ready?
A: You can choose to pick up your full order at once, or split it across multiple months, for example, 10 chickens in May and 10 more in August. This way, you always have farm-fresh chicken when you need it. A good way to plan your preorder is to think about how many whole chickens your family typically eats in a week, then multiply that by the number of weeks you want to keep your freezer stocked.
Q: Where can I pick up my chickens?
A: All pickups take place either at the Warren County Farmers Market or at Heavenly Acres Farm in McMinnville, TN. We’ll contact you to schedule your pickup once processing is complete.
Q: Why should I preorder chicken?
A: Preordering ensures your spot on our processing schedule. Since we raise a limited number of pasture-raised birds each year, preorders guarantee that you’ll have nutrient-dense, locally raised chicken in your freezer all season long.
