Base Recipe:
This is the standard base recipe that I use. Each time I craft this for our family I add other fruits and herbs based on what I have on hand or what I can source. You’ll note I do not include any information on quantity of each ingredient, this is because the amount of each item is completely based on your preference, your container size, and what you have available to you. Additionally, I prefer to use fresh ginger, garlic, horseradish, but you can also use powdered. I tend to use sliced lemons and limes but you can also use juice. Make it your own and don’t break the bank buying ingredients!
Garlic
(anti-inflammatory, antioxidative, antibacterial, and anticancer)Red onion
(fights inflammation and boosts immune system)Lemon juice
(aids in digestion)Lime juice
(boosts immunity, aids the kidneys and heart)Citrus fruit
(disease preventer, immune booster)Ginger
(pain reliever, stomach soother, immune booster)Spicy peppers
(antioxidant, reduces inflammation, more Vit C than orange juice)Horseradish Root

(lowers blood sugar, cholesterol, and blood pressure)
Optional Additions:
You can add anything additional you’d like. Below are some of our favorites.
Cranberries
Turmeric
Rosemary
Thyme
Pomegranate arils or juice
Tart cherry juice
Directions:
Slice / chop your ingredients
(if organic, leave the peels on, they have beneficial properties)Add them to your glass jar
Cover the ingredients with Apple Cider Vinegar
Place plastic lid on your jar, give it a good shake, and then let sit in an area of your kitchen out of direct sunlight for at least 4 weeks (I prefer 6 but 4 is sufficient).
We do not strain our Fire Cider, we simply pour directly from the jar, add a little honey to each serving, and enjoy. Fire Cider is one of our favorite daily rituals throughout the fall and winter because it’s sweet, spicy, and feels so supportive & warming.
Let us know if you make it, we’d love to hear what you think!
With care,
Jose & Nicole
